Migrate to the SpecFlow Account

We have introduced a new license model for SpecFlow+ and SpecMap. This new licensing model is account-based instead of requiring a license key. You need to sign up for a free personal SpecFlow account in order to use SpecFlow+ and SpecMap. Learn more about the SpecFlow account here

What are the benefits?

Signing up for a free SpecFlow account allows you to use the previously paid SpecFlow+ (Runner and LivingDoc) and SpecMap products for free. You no longer need to wait for us to process your request for a license manually and can expand your use of the software to more users as required. We also plan to offer exclusive additional benefits to help you boost your productivity and get the most out of SpecFlow and SpecMap.

Tricentis Acquires SpecMap

We are excited to announce that SpecMap has been acquired by Tricentis.

When TechTalk started to develop SpecMap more than two years ago, our goal was to help both small and large teams improve collaboration and use Story Mapping to develop software that offers an excellent user experience.

Today we are excited to announce that SpecMap and SpecFlow have been acquired by Tricentis, a leading international software provider for software testing solutions.

For Tricentis, SpecMap offers a unique opportunity to accelerate the adoption of agile practices and Behavior-Driven development (BDD) within the enterprise market. Agile practices like BDD and User Story Mapping enable teams to deliver valuable software to end users in shorter cycles and with better results.

What does this mean for current SpecMap customers?

We are excited to announce that partnering with Tricentis will allow us to offer SpecMap licenses to you free of charge. Starting from today, SpecMap will be available for free for any number of users. As an existing customer you can continue to use your current licenses. More details will be announced soon.

If you have any further questions, you can contact us by sending a mail to support [at] specmap.cc

We look forward to partnering with Tricentis and helping more teams from around the world collaborate!

Your SpecMap Team

Release Notes: Refine and add new work items faster to your maps

This article provides a short summary of some of the recent features added to SpecMap.

Refinements and Child Items

You can now add child items to cards on the map. Use this to group related items, slice out smaller items to plan your stories and prioritize your backlog in SpecMap.

https://specmap.cc/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/refine-your-work-items-on-the-map.png

The completion status of all child items is displayed on the parent card, providing you with an overview of the current status at a glance.

Adding New Work Items from the Map

You can now add items of any type from the map. When clicking on the New Item button, you can choose the type of item you want to add. This means you can add cards for all work item types directly on the map where you need them.

When adding a new item, the default item type is set to the last item type you added.

Adding New Work Items in the Backlog Explorer

You can also add new work items from the backlog explorer. In this case, the type of item added is the type of work item selected under Backlogs (a user story in the screenshot below, as Stories is selected in the Backlog Explorer).

Note that you cannot add new work items when displaying queries in the Backlog Explorer.

Display Missing Work Items per Iteration

If there are work items assigned to an iteration, but not present on your map, a warning indicator is displayed (exclamation mark). Click on this indicator to display a list of the missing work items in the Backlog Explorer. You can then quickly add the missing items to your map where they belong.

And More …

Visit our Changelog to explore other features we have been working on in the last months and make sure you never miss a feature.

SpecMap Support over the Holiday Period 2019-2020

Merry Xmas!

The SpecMap team will not be reachable over the holiday period, from 23 December 2019 to 6 January 2020. During this time, we will not be able to reply to any support mails. Support will resume on 7 January 2020. We will check on any issues that are reported once we have returned to the office.

We hope that you also enjoy the holiday period, and if you are unlucky enough to be in the office during this period, we thank you for your understanding.
